AMT120 (Tidal)
A million Times 120 (Tidal) is crafted and milled from a single block of aluminium, coated in dark blue, and features shiny metal finish clock hands. The series is evocative of sunlight reflecting on the surface of water, while the cyclical and cumulative patterns shown by the clock hands are themselves wave-like, a constant ebb and flow between reporting the time each minute.
The artwork is hand-assembled in our Stockholm studio and is part of the A million Times 120 (Tidal) edition, which is limited to just 10 pieces.
The first A million Times installation was exhibited in 2013 at the design fairs in Dubai and Basel. Since then artworks from this series have been included in internationally significant exhibitions at the Somerset House (UK), Smithsonian Design Museum (US), Issey Miyake's museum "21_21 Design Sight" (JP) and many more.

General
A million Times is delivered with three meticulously programmed modes of our playful and distinctive clock hand choreographies. The choreographies are inspired by and draw upon natural, artistic and mathematical pattern formations.
A program of up to 20 original clock hand choreographies will run for approximately 20 minutes before looping. In between the patterns, the artwork shows the time accurately once every minute.
Choreography Mode 1: Active
Mode 1 contains 20 different choreographies shown over 20 minutes on a loop. Every minute the clock hands perform one of the 20 choreographies before displaying the accurate time. This is the studio’s favoured mode - it is the most varied and intricate.
Choreography Mode 2: Original
The clock hands perform the first original clock hand choreography conceived of by Humans since 1982 at the beginning of our art timepiece journey, while continuing to show accurate time each minute.
Choreography Mode 3: Minimal
In minimal mode the artwork displays only the time in our digital typography, without any clock-hand choreographies. For moments when only a fine-tuned timepiece is required.
All modes can display either 12 or 24 hour time as preferred.
A million Times does generate some discernible sound as the motors turn the clock hands, but it is not a loud noise. Many of our collectors have remarked that the sound emitted is calming and perceptible as a natural noise, similar to waves on the shore or wind through grass. The artworks are well suited to being placed in living and working spaces. We would not necessarily recommend installation in sleeping quarters for light sleepers. Please note, the more clock faces the artwork has, the more discernible the sound generated by the piece will be.The artwork can be changed to minimal mode for moments when silence is golden.
