Brussels based gallery Victor Hunt will present our most recent work at this years Design Miami Basel (DMB). Directly after DMB some pieces will travel to New York to be included at Phillips de Pury’s group show together with work from Nendo (Japan) and Faye Toogood (UK).

Here are the four new objects (2 are unpublished) which will be exhibited at DMB and Phillips de Pury:

Light on Ground (2012, unpublished) is a light sculpture including over 80 LEDs of different types. Released as a limited edition of 10+2 pieces worldwide, it will be unveiled to international public in Basel (Design Miami) and New York (Phillips de Pury). Light on ground is notable for the extreme contrast between the magnitude of its total dimension and the minuscule size of its illuminants (LEDs). The vast free space between the LEDs and the ceiling is solely reserved for the lamp’s most precious attribute: its light.

The Clock Clock white (2010-2012, not officially published) re-contextualizes time in a mix of old and new, analogue and digital. The clock is made of 24 two-handed analogue alarm clocks put on top of each other. Six clocks make up a number, each of them displaying either one of its corners or one of its sides. All 24 clocks create one giant display similar to that of a digital watch.
This work is notable for its digital/analogue format and the choreography that takes place between the minutes.

Humans since 1982 cooperated with australian engineer David Cox to accomplish the complex tehnology which is behind this time-piece.

Collection of Light (2011-2012) is simply a collection of LEDs that, assembled in a pristine cabinet, constitute a lamp. The aim is to re-create the aura of an authentic collection, exhibiting each individual bulb as a specimen, an industrial product that is subject to scientific study. The LEDs are all labelled with name, size and colour temperature and arranged in a specific order to accomplish a harmonic radiance. Fireflies come to mind, yet the manmade LEDs obliterate their prefix, taking the “bio” out of bioluminescence.

Collection of light comes in three highly limited versions: The largest version (400 LEDs) will be produced only once. The medium-sized version (300 LEDs) was released as a limited edition of three. The smaller version (70 or 120 LEDs) will be produced in a limited run of 10. For these versions, original 70-year-old insect collection drawers from Stockholm’s Museum of Natural History (Naturhistoriska Museet) have been refurbished and reused.

Single Surveillance Light (2011-2012, unpublished), disturbing yet functional, the Single Surveillance light is a wall version of our 2008 published Surveillance Light prototypes and the Surveillance Chandeliers (2011).

“Collection of light” is simply a collection of LEDs which together constitute a lamp in itself. The aim is to create an aura of a real collection (similar to a collection of insects) and expose each illuminant as a worthy industrial product. The LEDs are all labeled (with name, size and colour temperature) and arranged in a specific order to accomplish harmonic light.

Apart from the big lamp which contains a selection of 300 LEDs there are also two smaller versions with 150 LEDs and 90 LEDs available.

For the 90 and 150 version we refurbished and reused original 70 year-old insect collection drawers from Museum of Natural History Stockholm (Naturhistoriska Museet).
